Eurasian watermilfoil is gaining a foothold in Idaho's lakes, ponds, rivers and other waterways. There has been approximately 4,000 surface acres of the plant identified through surveys that have been conducted in the state. In 2006, the Idaho State Legislature passed a bill that allows for $4 million in funding to control Eurasian watermilfoil in Idaho.
Eurasian watermilfoil is Idaho's only listed aquatic noxious weed. It is a native of Europe, Asia and Northern Africa. It was introduced into the United States in the late 1800's through the Aquarium Trade.
